There are not a lot of brands, even in Europe, that are as established as Skultana, a Swedish company that was established in 1607 under the reign of King Karl IX. Over the last 400 years, they have remained famed for their exceptional design and craftsmanship, which have transitioned seamlessly into the modern age. This Office Candlestick is based on one of Skultana’s oldest designs. What I love more than its beautiful, clean lines and perfect weight, is the story I see before me of someone working quietly by candlelight in a 17th century office in Stockholm as the soft winter’s light streaming in through the window begins to fade, and outside, the whole city is covered in snow.
This elegant candlestick is inspired by the oldest known Skultuna product from the 17th century; the Office Candelstick. Designed in 2017 by Richard Hutten, one of the most internationally successful Dutch designers; a key exponent of “Droog Design”, in which he has been involved since it’s inception in 1993.
