There’s just something so nostalgic about that milky caramel taste that puts me in the best frame of mind – and gets my creative juices flowing. This apple cake is inspired by a quick-and-easy version my mother used to bake, but in this version, the sweet treat essentially replaces the milk and sugar, resulting in a rich and moist crumb that needs nothing else, except perhaps a tasteful apple garnish.
