Finding the right salt and pepper mills can take years. The choice is so personal. But after scouring both France and South Africa, I have finally found the one. Handmade from leadwood – one of the African continent’s hardest and most durable woods – this mill is sealed on the outside with a sanding sealer, and polished and finished with beeswax. And the best part is that you can set the coarseness of the ceramic grinder to your liking.
Caring for your mills:
Although the wood is completely dry, it may move slightly depending on weather and climate conditions. The head is slightly loose to allow for free movement.
Should the head become a bit tight, it can be sanded lightly with a small piece of sandpaper (grit 180-240).
If the head squeeks, a drop or two of olive oil is all it needs, smeared between the moving parts.
The Crushgrind mechanism is guaranteed for 25 years (crushgrind.com).
The mills need not be cleaned, but could be wiped with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
